1. Show Your Competitor's Warts. Competition is a good thing, and popular products have plenty of it. What you need to do is take a close look at the competition and see where they are lacking or where they are different from you and exploit those areas. Perhaps you deliver faster or provide discount shipping, maybe you offer choice instant download or CD, you'll ship anywhere, or gift wrap. You have to tell your potential customer why you are different.

3. Give Them Proof. The internet is inundated with information, research , studies, and survey results. There is bound to be information out that you can use to show people why your product will do what it says and why it is going to help them. Do NOT make up your own information, use the real information that is out that as it relates to what you are selling.

4. Test Your Pitches. Create three different pitch pages. Run one for 10 days, followed by the second one for 10 days and then the third for 10 days. At the end of those 30 days take a look at which pitch page provided you with the most conversions. Remember this is about what gets your visitors, which doesn't mean the winning pitch will be the one you liked the most.

5. Befriend Potential Customers. Your sales copy should create a connection with the person that is reading it. Good sales copy will make you money, great sales copy that helps you establish a relationship with your customer will make you even more money.

You want to let them into your life a little. Let them see the similarities between where you have been and where they are. Set up a forum where there can be interaction between you and your customers.


Feature a buyer with a photo and candid interview. When you give buyers reasons to drop by regularly, then you are developing a relationship. Needless to say, your "special offer" email gets read when others are sent to the trash folder.
